the grade 3 student manipulatives kits include (5) 2-sided syllable mat/morphology mat, (5) pages of syllable bars and morpheme cards, (5) dry erase markers and (5) reclosable poly bags for storage. students move the colored chips into sound boxes to represent words the teacher dictates; after mapping the sounds in a word, students write the letters in the appropriate sound boxes in the student workbook. 

when the program is taught in class students can easily store the bags in their desks. additionally, the bag is sized to allow inclusion of a student workbook plus parent instructions and spelling lists when materials are used outside the classroom.
